While the date of NEET-UG 2021 is yet to be announced, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal' Nishank 'has given valuable details on the all-India Medical entrance exam on two previous occasions. During an interactive session with Kendriya Vidyalaya students on January 18, Mr. Pokhriyal claimed that NEET 2021 would take place on the basis of the syllabus issued by the conducting bodies of the test.

In another session with students in December 2020, the Minister, referring to a student's query as to whether NEET 2021 will be kept online, said that the proposal would be reviewed.

Later in December, the date and exam pattern for JEE Main 2021 was revealed. The Engineering entry exam saw several improvements this year, such as several sessions, more regional vocabulary, and a different test pattern.

The Minister announced on January 18 that the NEET 2021 syllabus would not be reduced.

The Minister explained: "Students would only have to review the revised syllabus for their CBSE board exams and other state board exams and the full syllabus for the competitive exams like the Joint Entrance Test (JEE Main 2021) and NEET 2021" in response to a student who asked if questions were to be asked in competitive exams from the reduced CBSE syllabus.

In JEE Main, more questions to choose from will be offered to students. This is to appeal to all students, regardless of the reduction of the syllabus by separate boards, according to the National Testing Agency — the conducting body of JEE Main and NEET.

Can students in NEET 2021 get more questions to pick from? Only after a formal statement will this be understood. The exam has 180 questions for a total of 720 points, as per the present standard.
