BITS Pilani announces the launch of the new Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Management School Pilani has announced the launch of the BITS School of Management (BITSoM) over the next five to seven years with an investment of about Rs 1,500 crore.

On Thursday, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani announced the launch of the BITS School of Management (BITSoM) with an investment over the next five to seven years of about Rs 1,500 crore. A two-year residential MBA degree program with professors from the world's best business schools and a course fee of Rs 24 lakh will be offered by BITSoM.

Industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, who is the chancellor of BITS Pilani, told a virtual press conference that there have been a lot of changes across the globe over the past three decades with the emergence of new technology and different incidents, the latest being the coronavirus pandemic, which has changed the business environment, requiring the way potential business leaders are groomed.

MBA curriculum from BITS School of Management: The content and format and delivery of an MBA program need to be redefined. This is a time to bring a new approach to management education to understand how technology reshapes business models, how design thinking addresses customer needs, how data science is becoming an important tool for accelerating growth, and how sustainable growth is a prerequisite for creating values.

He said that BITSoM was intended to mold "visionary game-changers through a new age MBA degree program, that goes beyond management studies alone." building on the legacy of BITS Pilani. "The endeavor is not just to redefine management education, but also help articulate the role of business in society. BITSoM will, in its unique way, advance the cumulative wisdom of management thinking in India," Birla said, adding that it will introduce a new collection of concepts, values, and structures and collaborate with established institutions to make India a future global hub for management education.

When asked about investment, Birla said, "The investment in the B-School will be about Rs 1,500 crore...it is not an investment by me but by BITS Pilani, the institution...There are only BITS, who will be investing. It is an investment of over five to seven years." The first session will begin in July this year with a batch of 120 students at an interim campus in Powai, Mumbai, and BITSoM will transfer in July this year with a batch of 120 students.

Faculty at the School of Management at BITS: In addition to leading industry professionals, BITS Pilani said, the BITSoM Faculty will include internationally renowned professors from top B-Schools such as NYU Stern School of Business, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Singapore Management University, and Kellogg School of Management.

The MBA program's multidisciplinary curriculum will meet the requirements of a changing business environment and provide students with an immersive, stimulating, and holistic experience to succeed in all areas of their lives. With courses such as Ethics in Business, the Roots of Management in India, and Indian Philosophy and Leadership, it will also provide students with global and contextual perspectives, it added.
