NEET 2021 UPDATES
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, notification of NEET 2021 is expected shortly. The review will be performed by the National Testing Agency. Although the dates for JEE Main have been released, there is no update on when to conduct NEET 2021. Here is what we know about the notification release date, explanations for the delay, this year's number of attempts allowed, and other updates.
NEET Dates for 2021: No formal notice or statement has yet been released about the publication date of the notification of the review date. As per the latest information, a meeting to discuss the examination was held between the Ministry of Education and Health and the National Testing Agency. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has asked the Ministry of Health to consider carrying out NEET 2021 online and more than once this year, as per the students' requests. The decision, however, was not made.
HT states that the suggestion has been taken into account by Health Ministry officials, but the final decision on the mode of review remains with the National Medical Commission (NMC).
It is important to point out here that the NMC is in charge of medical education and not the testing department. NTA conducts the examination only and it comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to decide on the mode of examination, pattern, syllabus, requirements, etc.
The delay in the announcement of the NEET 2021 dates as pert sources is mainly due to the lack of agreement between the different bodies on the same. On condition of anonymity, another official indicated that it is likely that the exam will also be held in July this year. No official date has yet been finalized, he said.
NEET 2021 | Number of attempts:
After NTA announced its decision to conduct JEE Main 2021 four times, with a proposal to conduct NEET more than once, several students and experts reached out to the Education Minister. Experts feel that the students will be improved by offering students a chance to increase their score (like JEE Main). Also, some have pointed out that there is a risk that students could fail the exam with the pandemic still a concern. As such, performing the exam twice will give students a greater chance to appear for the exam during the year in the event they miss one opportunity.
