Ph.D. Microbiology is a three-year doctoral program that aims to give qualified applicants research expertise in a variety of microbiology topics. This course is primarily concerned with the advanced study of microscopic, unicellular, and cell-cluster organisms. This program is meant to provide qualified individuals with research training that is relevant to the country's present social and economic objectives. Candidates accepted into this course will receive instruction in writing research reports, with the goal of improving students' ability to communicate data in a graphical format. This program also covers areas of microorganism biochemistry, physiology, and genetics. Virology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Recombinant DNA Technology, Microbial Genetics, and other topics are covered in the course. The curriculum is designed to help students prepare for a successful career in microbiology.

 

 

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Medical Microbiology

A Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to a Master's degree by the applicable statutory regulating authority, with at least 55 percent aggregate marks or a grade of 'B' on the UGC's seven-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed), Applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled and other categories of candidates may be granted a 5% mark reduction from 55 percent to 50 percent, or an equal grade reduction, as determined by the University Grants Commission from time to time.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER:

  • Ph.D. programs are not eligible for funding.
  • Scholarships are not available for the Diploma Paramedical, Nursing, Pharmacy, or Architecture programs at NIMS.
  • The only fees for which scholarships are available are tuition costs.
  • Exam fees are paid on the day of the exam, uniform kits are purchased when needed, and club fees are paid.
  • All students who have been offered a scholarship based on the NIMS University Common Scholarship or the NIMS University Common Entrance Examination are eligible for an upgrade if their aggregate percentage in qualifying exams meets the criteria outlined in Prof. (Dr.) Balvir Singh Tomar Merit-Based Scholarship. In this case, students must submit both an application and a certified copy of their grades.
