Subject-by-subject QS World University Rankings 2024- IIT Guwahati ranks among the best institutions for studying two disciplines.

As per the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, IIT Guwahati has made significant advancements in its rankings, a press release informed.

According to the 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is ranked among the best universities in the world for studying data science and petroleum engineering.

According to a press release, Quacquarelli Symonds, a global analytics organization for higher education, created the list and identified the top colleges in the world for studying 55 different academic subjects.

The statement states that IIT Guwahati has excelled in Petroleum Engineering, ranking 51–100 globally, and Data Science, earning a global position of 51–70.

Additionally, the Institute has received praise for its rankings in the following general topic areas:

• Engineering and Technology came in at number 210, down from number 222 the year before.
• Natural Science, at position 343, down from position 379 in the previous year.
• 510–550 in the Arts & Humanities hierarchy.

Notably, the Institute has received its first ranking in the Arts & Humanities area for both Agriculture & Forestry and Business & Management Studies.

This year, there has also been an improvement in the rank of four topics. Among them are:

• Chemistry: This year, it is ranked 251-300, up from 301-250 previous year.
• Biological Sciences: This year's ranking is 401-450, down from 451-500 previous year.
• Environmental Studies: 201-250 this year compared to 301-350 last year.
• Economic & Econometrics: Previously ranked 501–530, now ranked 451–500.

The director of IIT Guwahati, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, expressed satisfaction with the institution's ongoing standing as a world leader in research and education across a variety of fields.

According to him, QS WUR's most recent accomplishment is proof of the commitment and diligence of its teachers, staff, and students, which motivates the organization to keep expanding its expertise and making significant contributions to society.
