Comman Admission Test (CAT)

 

CAT 2020 will conduct by IIM’s (Indian Institute of Management). Examination will held once in a year. Various B-Schools also accepts CAT Score for their admission in MBA, PGDM etc. Basically student who are aspiring to take admission in IIM’s will prepare for this exam.

CAT 2020 Eligibility

 

  • A applicant must be a holder of graduate degrees in any stream. Candidates appearing in their degree program's final year/semester may also apply for CAT 2020.
  • Candidates with a CA/CS/ICWA degree are also eligible (Gen: 50 percent & SC/ST/ PWD: 45 percent).
  • As for the CAT Age Limit, there is no specified minimum/ maximum limit and a student can attempt 8 times in a life.

CAT 2020 Application Form will be made available from August 5 and will be available till September 23, 2020.The entire application process will be conducted in online mode at iimcat.ac.in.

Quick Facts

  • IIMs send a special CAT registration ID and password to the Common Admission Test online portal to log in.
  • While applying online you have to opt for management programs in all the 20 IIMs givenin the registration form.

Steps to Apply for CAT 2020

Registration for the exam is a four-step procedure.

  • Step 1: Registration - Please visit the official CAT website and enter your e-mail address, contact information and date of birth.
  • Step 2: Fill CAT Application Form – Enter your personal information, phone numbers, academic details, job experience, preference for the program and preference for the exam center.
  • Step 3: Upload Documents – Scan and Upload your documents according to CAT 2020 Photo Size, Dimension, Format and Other Information (Photo, Signatures & Needed Certified)
  • Step 4: Payment of Application Fee - Candidate can pay the CAT 2020 Application Fee through net banking/credit card/debit card online. The category wise application fee for CAT 2020 is listed below:

CAT 2020 Exam Pattern:

 

  • Mode of Exam: Computer-based test
  • Total Questions: 100
  • Number of Sections (has 3 sub-section): Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, and Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning
  • Exam duration: 3-hour test duration, where each segment is given an hour.
  • Questions with negative marking (MCQs): 75
  • Questions without negative marking (non-MCQs): 25
  • Marking Scheme: +3 marks for the correct answer; -1 mark for incorrect responses

 

CAT 2020 Syllabus:

 

  • IIMs do not give a defined syllabus for CAT. However, after analysing previous year exam papers, list of frequently occurring topics is given below.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Geometry, Arithmetic progression, Installments Payments, Arithmetic mean, Logaritm, Work and time
  • DILR: Graphs, Critical reasoning, Statements and assumptions, Syllogism, Venn diagrams
  • VARC: Verbal reasoning, Idioms, sentence correction, sentence completion, Analogies, Comprehension
