UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design)


A computer-based evaluation for Bachelor of Design admissions is the Undergraduate Common Entrance Assessment for Design (UCEED). It is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.

UCEED 2021 Eligibility Criteria


  • Applicants must be born on or before 1 October 1995, whether they fall under the category of open or OBC NCL, and if they belong to the SC, ST, PWD category,  then they must be born on or after October 1990, in order to be eligible to appear in the UCEED 2021 category.
  • The maximum number of attempts would occur twice in consecutive years.
  • In 2020 or appearing in 2021, applicants should have passed the qualifying test, which is class 12th or equivalent. There are no qualified applications for students who have passed in 2018 or earlier. In addition, students are all eligible to apply for the examination from all streams.

Visualization and spatial ability

  • Pictorial and diagrammatic questions
  • 2D shapes and 3D objects transformation and/or manipulation and their spatial relationships
  • Mechanical and scientific concepts

Observation and design sensitivity

  • Detect hidden properties and think critically about them in ordinary objects, individuals, circumstances, events
  • Beware of certain data, evaluate, reason, identify, infer and predict
  • Discerning slight variations in visual characteristics and aesthetic effects

Environmental and social awareness-

  • General understanding and effect on the design of goods, photographs, infrastructure and the environment of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, emissions, weather, natural resources, etc.

UCEED 2021 Exam Pattern


  • There will be two components of the question paper: Part A and Part B, both of which are compulsory.
  • The total marks are 300
  • Section A will be a 240-mark computer-based examination with a length of 2 hours and 30 minutes. In this portion of the test, there will be 3 parts.

Part A:

  • NAT (Numerical Answer Type) will be included in section 1: An answer is a number that must be entered on the computer screen using a virtual keyboard. For these questions, no options will be shown.
  • Of the four choices given, Section 2 will consist of MSQ (Multiple Select Questions) with one or more correct answers.
  • MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) will be available in section 3 with four options, of which only one is the correct answer.

Part B:

  • For 60 marks to be completed in 30 minutes, it will be a drawing exam.
