MAHA CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test)

MAHA CET or Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai for admissions to aspiring candidates of Engineering and Technology programmes (BE/BTech) and Pharmacy programmes (BPharma/PharmaD) in the Maharashtra state. MAHA CET was conducted by DTE, Maharashtra till 2018.

Qualified candidates will be allotted seats in the various colleges in the state of Maharashtra on the basis of results in MAHA CET 2021. It is one of the largest exams in terms of test-takers in India as around three lakh applicants appear in MAHA CET every year.

MAHA CET 2021: Eligibility Criteria


Before applying for MAHA CET 2021, candidates should check the eligibility criteria set by the exam conducting cell, Mumbai. Only in MAHA CET 2021 will candidates who meet the eligibility requirements be eligible to appear.

  • The candidate must be an Indian.
  • There is no such age limit to appear in MHT CET 2021.
  • The applicant should have passed the Physics and Mathematics Class XII exam or its equivalent testWith some of the subjects such as Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical/ Vocational subjects as compulsory subjects.
  • Candidates who are appearing for HSC or XII examination in 2020 are also considered eligible.
  • A minimum of 50 per cent marks for the General Category and at least 45 per cent marks for the Reserved Category should be obtained by candidates as an aggregate of all 5 subjects.
  • Female candidates cannot opt for a mining engineering course.
  • The minimum eligibility for MAHA CET 2021 is that candidates should have passed class XII from a recognized board.


MAHA CET 2021 Eligibility Criteria: for Engineering Courses

  • The candidates need to be Indian people.
  • Applicants should have passed a class XII or HSC exam with subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects.
  • It is necessary to achieve a minimum of 50 percent aggregate and 45 percent aggregate marks for reserved category candidates.
  • Passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 50% marks as general category candidates and 45% in case of reserved category.
  • Qualification marks acquired from JEE Main Paper 1 (All India Candidature Candidates, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidates)

MAHA CET 2021 Eligibility Criteria: For Pharmacy courses

  • The candidate should be an Indian citizen.
  • Applicant should have completed class XII with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology /Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject.
  • For candidates of the general category, the minimum percentage criterion is 45% and 40 % for reserved category.
  • There is no such age limit to apply for this course.

MAHA CET 2021: Admission Process


Step 1 - Register for MAHA CET 2021

  • All the aspiring candidates for MAHA CET 2020 have to register themselves on the official website by filling in the required details. Without registration, candidates will not be allowed to fill the MAHA CET 2020 application form.

Step 2: Application Form

  • Aspiring candidates need to fill in their personal details, qualification details, and communication details while filling the application form Candidates need to pay the application fee after presenting all the information.
  • For general category candidates, the application fee is Rs 800 and Rs 600 for reserved category candidates. The MAHA CET 2021 application fee can be paid online through debit card/credit card/net-banking.

Step 3 - Download MAHA CET 2021 Admit card

  • MAHA CET 2021 admit card releases generally 15 days prior to the exam but it has been postponed by the Common Entrance Test Cell for now. After the release of admit card, candidates can download their admit cards from the official website by logging into the accounts using the required credentials.

Step 4 - MAHA CET 2021 Exam

  • MAHA CET dates will be announced soon by the Common Entrance Test Cell later. This exam is conducted in two slots and the aspirants are advised to reach the exam centre one hour before the commencement of the exam.

Step 5: MAHA CET 2021 Result

  • MAHA CET 2021 exam result announcement date has been postponed. This will be announced by the cell once the exam is conducted. The result of the candidate shows candidate's merit position, marks obtained in each subject and total marks.

Step 6 – MAHA CET 2021 Counselling

  • Aspirants who qualify the exam will have to appear for MAHA CET 2021 counselling which will tentatively be held in the month of August 2020.

Q1: What to carry on Exam Day?

Ans. MAHA CET will be conducted online. Bring one ball pen with you as a sheet of paper will be given for rough work at the exam hall.

Q2: What should not be carried to the exam hall?

Ans. Mobile Phones, calculators, watch, alarm clocks, digital watches with built-in calculators/memory, scanner devices, Bluetooth enabled devices are not allowed in the exam hall.

Q3: What Documents are required on the exam day?

Ans. Aspirants must carry their MAHA CET admit cards to the exam centre. The admit card must have your photo affixed on it.

        They also require any state/central government-issued photo identification card for eample:

  • Voter ID

Q4: Can I show my e-aadhaar card for verification during the exam?

E-Aadhaar Card and Ration Card are not valid id proofs for MAHA CET 2021.
