NEET-UG 2021: On August 1, 2021, the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test Undergraduate will be held. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which administers the NEET-UG, has yet to announce the entrance exam and open the application connection. The NEET information bulletin is expected to be released soon at ntaneet.nic.in by the NTA. “When the submission of the Application Form for NEET (UG) begins, the Information Bulletin containing specific information about the Test, syllabus, eligibility requirements for age, reservation, categorization of seats, examination fee, cities of examination, State Code, and other topics will be available shortly on the website https://ntaneet.nic.in,” NTA said in a notification released on March 12.

According to the applicable norms, guidelines, and regulations notified by the concerned Regulatory Bodies, the NEET-UG is held for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS courses. Admission to undergraduate medical programs at participating medical colleges, such as AIIMS and JIPMER, is based on the NEET score.

Eligibility for NEET: 

  • According to last year's regulations, students must have passed Class 12 or be scheduled to take the Class 12 examination in 2021 to be qualified for NEET-UG. The aspirant must have majored in English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Biotechnology in high school. 
  • In 2020, applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 25 at the time of admission to the first year of a UG medical program. Candidates from reserved categories, on the other hand, were given a five-year reprieve.
  • Applicants in the General group must have earned a 50 percent in their Class 12 exams in order to sit for NEET in 2020.
  • There was no limit on the number of NEET UG attempts until last year. Aspirants could take the NEET exam as many times as they wanted before they reached the upper age limit.

Statistics on NEETs in 2020: Last year, approximately 16 lakh students applied for NEET 2020. The medical entrance exam was attended by 85-90 percent of those who applied. Last year, NTA had to administer NEET 2020 twice, once on September 13 and again on October 14. The testing agency was forced to reschedule NEET on October 14 for students who were unable to take the exams on September 13 due to COVID-19-related issues. On October 16, 2020, the final result was announced.

NEET 2020: Procedure for Breaking Ties: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology were included in the NEET-UG 2020 article (Botany and Zoology). Every subject had 45 four-point multiple-choice questions with a one-point penalty for incorrect answers. If two or more candidates scored the same NEET score in 2020, NTA used the following tie-breaking methodology to break the tie:

  • Preference was granted to candidates who scored higher in Biology (Botany and Zoology).
  • Preference was granted to the student who had obtained a higher grade in Chemistry.
  • Candidates who tried less incorrect responses in all subjects in NEET-UG 2020 had a unique edge.
  • Candidates with a higher age range were preferred.
