Delhi Schools, Coaching Closed 9th 11th Exams Postponed

Delhi Schools, Coaching Centres Closed: In wake of the latest increase in COVID-19 cases, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has announced that schools and coaching centers across the state will remain closed until further notice. In addition, as a precautionary measure, the Department of Education has decided to postpone the remaining papers for the Class 9 and Class 11 Annual Exams. Following the postponement of exams for students in grades 9 and 11, the Directorate of Education is expected to announce revised exam dates soon.

Class 9 and 11 Exams Postponed: In light of the current situation, the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister announced that annual exams for students in classes 9 and 11 have been postponed until at least April 20, 2021. He also said that the Directorate of Education would announce new exam dates soon. Mr. Sisodia responded to a question about the ongoing practical exams for the CBSE Board Exam 2021 while answering questions from students and parents on social media. "We have asked the heads of schools to speak with CBSE examiners and drive the remaining CBSE practical exams forward," he said. The remaining practical exams have been postponed until April 20.”

Schools to Decide on Teacher Availability: Mr. Sisodia said that the state government would not make any central decision about teacher availability at schools, but that schools will be empowered to do so. As per the statement, schools and colleges in Delhi will make the final decision about teacher presence during the closure period. “We've delegated the decision on whether or not teachers should be called to the school to individual schools, principals, and staff bodies. Mr. Sisodia explained that schools will decide whether teachers can conduct online classes from school or at home, or whether a limited number of teachers will be required at school.

Delhi school practical exam: When asked about the practical exams, the minister said, "We have asked the heads of schools to speak to the CBSE examiners and move the dates of the remaining CBSE practical exams forward. "For the time being, schools have been asked to postpone the remaining practical exams until April 20.” There were questions about the presence of teachers during the closure of Delhi's schools and colleges. As per Sisodia, there will be no centralized directive in this regard, and schools will decide whether teachers will report to school for online classes or conduct theirs remotely.
